Custom Glasses | iAyez 3D-Printed Eyewear

Custom glasses, printed for one face

A phone scan, a PA12 frame sintered in Los Angeles, and delivery quoted at 10–14 days.

Glasses made from your scan, not a stock size

iAyez custom eyewear starts with the free iFramez by iAyez app. A face scan takes about 30 seconds and maps 30,000 data points, including bridge width, temple length, pupillary distance, and face width, to 0.1 mm. The app works on iPhone X and newer, Android 8.0 and later with a front camera, and iPad Pro with Face ID. Facial data is encrypted, is not shared, and can be deleted. The scan uses measurements, not a stored photo.

How a pair is designed and printed

After the scan, you shape the frame in a live 3D preview. The How It Works page lists more than 50 base designs, including classic, modern, vintage, cat-eye, aviator, round, and square, or a shape of your own. Colors can be a single shade, a gradient, tortoiseshell, transparent, or a custom pattern, and the front and temples can differ. Finishes are matte, glossy, or textured. A name, initials, symbol, or short message can be built into the frame, not printed on afterward.

Every frame is printed with selective laser sintering. A laser fuses PA12 nylon powder one layer at a time. The SLS equipment and nylon powder come from Formlabs, and the frames are designed and printed in Los Angeles, California. Layer resolution is 110 microns, with dimensional accuracy of ±0.1 mm. Compared with traditional acetate, the technology page describes PA12 as about 40% lighter, hypoallergenic, impact resistant, and able to flex and return to shape. Unused powder is recycled. Frames are made to order, so there is no shelf of unsold inventory.

Production on the How It Works page runs through file preparation, printing (about 8–12 hours), cooling and cleaning, dyeing and finishing, lens fitting, and a quality check. Printing, curing, and finishing take about 7 days before an order ships. Prescription lenses can be cut and fitted. You can upload a prescription before production starts. The site notes that prescriptions are valid for 2 years, and FSA and HSA cards are accepted for prescription glasses.

Price, delivery, and what arrives

Frames listed in the iAyez store are priced at $295. Standard delivery is free and quoted at 10–14 days from order to delivery, which includes printing, finishing, and lens fitting. Expedited delivery is $15 and is available in the U.S. only. It shortens the shipping leg after the frames are made and the lenses are fitted. It does not skip production.

iAyez ships to the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand. Standard shipping is free to those countries. International orders ship with duties unpaid, so import duties, taxes, and carrier fees may be collected on delivery. Your package includes the glasses, a hard case, a microfiber cloth, care instructions, a fit certificate, and a thank-you note.

You have 30 days from delivery to ask for a free remake or a full refund, for any reason. Return shipping is free in the U.S. Outside the U.S., you pay return shipping. Separately, each pair has a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Details are on the returns page and the shipping page.
